All applicants for this position must be U.S. citizens, and be at least 18 years of age. Applicants must possess a bachelor's degree, preferably in criminal justice. Michigan Public Act requires that each applicant must meet the minimum employment standards for police officers as established by the Michigan Commission on Law Enforcement Standards (MCOLES), and possess a current certificate from the MCOLES indicating passing grades on both the physical agility and reading skills pre-employment tests, or be a currently certified police officer. Applicants must be able to perform all essential job functions. All applicants' criminal and traffic histories will be reviewed and may serve as a basis for removal from the selection process.
Candidates must present the above listed documentation, when requested, prior to receiving further consideration.
Current salary range, based on a contract expiring 9/30/17, $45,130 - $61,643.

Candidates must also have good spelling skills. Applicants must be able to perform all essential job functions and be willing to work variable rotating shifts that include weekends, holidays and mandatory overtime. Applicants' criminal history will be reviewed and may serve as a basis for removal from the selection process. Prior police experience is preferred.
Current salary range, based on a contract expiring 7/31/17, $32,037 - $49,023.
