Safety

The most effective way to stay safe on and off campus is to be prepared and properly informed. The WSUPD empowers the Wayne State community to stay aware of their surroundings, alert to any threats and equipped to respond when necessary. Our campus is one of the 50 safest in the United States, an accomplishment largely due to an informed and aware community.

WSUPD offers a number of workshops and classes designed to prepare community members on how to stay aware and respond in an emergency. From self-defense to active attacker training, these interactive workshops provide hands-on training in an engaging and informative atmosphere. Safety resources such as VIN etching and Club steering wheel locks are available to keep property secure on and off campus. The Wayne State Alerts text messaging service immediately informs subscribers of closures and emergencies on and around campus, and the safety tips on this page teach you how to stay aware and prepared in class, at the office, on the road and at home.

Through collaboration and communication, the WSUPD has worked with Warriors to create one of the safest college campuses in the United States. If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to contact us. We recommend that you program the WSUPD's phone number, 313-577-2222, into your phone so you are prepared in the event of an emergency.
