Steering Wheel and Bicycle Locks
Club Steering Wheel Locks: $13.00
According to the Michigan Auto Theft Prevention Authority, the state of Michigan is the 6th highest state in the nation for auto theft with 21,157 vehicles stolen in our state in 2015. Vehicle thefts in three southeast Michigan counties (Wayne, Macomb, and Oakland) account for approximately 74% of all the stolen vehicles in our state during calendar year 2015. Unfortunately, auto thefts can and do occur in and around our campus.
In an attempt to reduce your chances of becoming an auto theft victim anywhere in southeastern Michigan, WSUPD has partnered with Winner International, Inc, manufacturers of the "Club" steering wheel lock. By way of Winner Internationals special program for law enforcement agencies, WSUPD obtains bulk shipments of Club Twin Hook Steering Wheel locks at a deeply discounted price. We can then distribute these steering wheel locks to our students, staff and faculty at that same deeply discounted price (currently $13.00 each). As part of our agreement with the manufacturer, WSUPD cannot make one penny of profit from Club Steering Wheel Lock distributions to our campus community. To date, with this popular program, WSUPD has distributed well over 4,000 Club Steering wheel locks to our students, staff and faculty.
Club Steering Wheel Locks can be obtained Monday through Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, at the WSU Police Department located at 6050 Cass Avenue at Burroughs (two blocks north of the I-94/Ford Freeway.) Nowhere is bicycle theft a bigger problem than on college campuses, Experts advise that you should always secure your bike with a quality bike lock.
The WSUPD has a good supply of the Bike/Utility bicycle locks. These bike locks are made by Winner International, the same manufacturer that make the Club Steering Wheel lock and WSUPD obtains them under the same discount program as the Club Twin Hooks steering wheel locks.
